The village of Romeoville announced its headline act for the return of Romeofest later this year.

The rock band Soul Asylum will take the stage on Saturday night of the four-day long event running Aug. 4-7, according to a news release. That night will also include a new laser light show. There was no Romeofest last summer.

“We are very excited to have Soul Asylum headlining Saturday night’s entertainment at RomeoFest,” Mayor John Noak said in a statement. “With this year’s return, we thought it only right to really take it up a notch and we’re not going to stop there. Our Parks and Recreation Department is working tirelessly to gear up for this year’s event season and we have a few more surprises up our sleeves that we hope to announce soon.”

The village also announced a series of additional summer events. The schedule includes nine of its Rockin’ the Ville concerts and movie screenings.

Romeoville’s fireworks show will return July 3. The event includes three simultaneous large displays at separate locations throughout the village.

“We’ve planned this summer’s events so that there is something fun for everyone,” Director of Parks and Recreation Kelly Rajzer said.
