High school sports roundup for Wednesday, March 3

Lockport saw 12 different players contribute offensively in a 56-34 road win over Sandburg in Orland Park on Wednesday.

Matas Deksnys led the way for Lockport with 16 points as the Porters improved to 8-3 overall.

Lincoln-Way East 62, Bradley-Bourbonnais 55: At Frankfort, Tylon Toliver’s 22 points went a long way for the Griffins in a SouthWest Suburban Conference win.

Khalil Ross and George Bellevue pitched in with 10 points each in the victory.

Dwight 62, Flanagan 52: At Flanagan, the Trojans evened their record back to 6-6 with a road win over the Falcons.

Isaac Telford drained five 3-pointers on the way to a team-high 22 points in the victory, while Brandon Ceylor pitched in with 16 points.

Providence Catholic 64, Providence-St. Mel 40: At New Lenox, Jack Wadja provided 21 points for the Celtics in a comfortable home win.

JImmy Arentz added 11 points and Hampton Dauparas scored nine in the victory.

Oswego East 51, Romeoville 40: At Romeoville, the Wolves went into enemy territory and came away with a nice road win.

Streator 72, Wilmington 43: At Streator, the Wildcats failed to keep pace with the Bulldogs in one-sided road loss.

In spite of the loss, Ben Kreitz had a strong outing for Wilmington, turning in a 16-point, 14-rebound double-double.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lincoln-Way Central 54, Providence Catholic 35: At New Lenox, the Knights made quick work of the visiting Celtics in a comfortable win.

Mia Zenere scored 14 points for the Knights in the win, and Azyah Newson-Cole was just behind her with 13, as they improved to 7-4 overall.

Ashley Raymer led Providence with 15 points in the loss. Kelly Knight added eight points.

Peotone 39, Bishop McNamara 32: At Kankakee, the Blue Devils came away with a road win over the Fightin’ Irish.

Mady Kibelkis was tops for Peotone (7-1) with 15 points and six rebounds. Danielle Piper added nine points and eight boards and Madi Schroeder scored nine and had six steals.

Morris 27, Sandwich 26: At Morris, Kyla Kjellesvik scored 10 points to lead Morris to a narrow home win in a low-scoring affair.

Morris improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Interstate Eight play with the victory.

BOYS BOWLING

Joliet West def. Plainfield North: The Tigers piled up a team score of 3,140 in a win over Plainfield North thanks in large part to a 666 series from Joey Featherstone.

Featherstone bowled games of 247 and 237 en route to the high series, while Victor Antomez finished the afternoon with a 642 series, Gavin McGowan turned in a 614 and Anthony Lizzio had a 593.
