Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox revises its visitor policy

Revision is because COVID cases continue to decline in Will County.

Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox updated its visitor policy on Monday because COVID-19 cases are declining at the hospital and in Will County.

As of Monday, 11 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19. One patient was in the intensive care unit and none were on ventilators, according to the Silver Cross COVID-19 dashboard.

Here are the updated guidelines, according to the release:

• Non-COVID-19 adult patients in nursing units, intensive care units and emergency department (New Lenox): two visitors per day. Visitors can switch but not on the same day. This means a patient may have two visitors on one day and then two different visitors on the next day.

• Pediatric patients may have two visitors. These visitors must be parents or guardians.

• Patients in pediatrics, labor and delivery and the newborn nursery: two designated visitors throughout the duration of a patient’s stay.

• Outpatients: one visitor during testing or procedure. Two designated visitors will be allowed if the patient is hospitalized.

• Permitted visitors must screen negative for COVID-19 and wear a face mask at all times.

• Visitors younger than 16 are not permitted. Exceptions may be made for end-of-life and other limited instances, such as the mental health of a patient.
