7 students in D-86 in Joliet perform in LMEA music festival

The festival takes place at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox

Seven junior high school student musicians who attend Joliet Public Schools District 86 performed Saturday at the Illinois Music Education Association District 1 Junior Honors Festival.

The event took place at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox.

The following students performed: Maria Avalos Angeles, alto saxophone, Washington Junior High; Meredith Diaz Sanchez, violin, Gompers Junior High; Aiden Hadley, clarinet, Hufford Junior High; Jeremy Lannan, trumpet, Hufford Junior High; Lailah Moore, alto voice, Washington Junior High; Jordan Shell, viola, Hufford Junior High; and Johannah Williams, alto voice, Washington Junior High.

The students’ directors include R. Scott Barnas, Washington Junior High band director; Clifford Hunt, Hufford Junior High orchestra director; James Shaw, Hufford Junior High band director; Rachael Tatar, Gompers Junior High orchestra director; and Chloe Vassmer, Washington Junior High choir director.
