One person is dead after a driver going the wrong-way on Interstate 80 hit a semi-trailer truck.

The collision happened at about 11:14 a.m. Monday at Briggs Street in Joliet, Illinois State Police said.

All westbound traffic has been shut down at Briggs. Traffic and was being diverted to U.S. Route 30 at the New Lenox interchange as of 1:30 p.m.

Two people were taken to a local hospital after the crash, state police said. One was later pronounced dead.
