Elderwerks is Your Community Partner For Senior Services

It’s a given that we are living in some very uncertain times and many older adults are having difficulty navigating their living situation.

Helping older adults and seniors is what we do at Elderwerks.

Comprised of seasoned social services professionals, staff is available, at no cost. Whether you have questions about aging, you are not doing so well at home, or you have new concerns, Elderwerks Educational Services is here to answer questions.

Serving as a not-for-profit organization whose vast network encompasses all types of senior housing, care, support services, and information on benefits and local programming to support seniors, we can offer helpful solutions for people in a variety of situations.

“Our consultants are experts in senior housing and care,” said Jennifer Prell, president of Elderwerks Educational Services. “They have toured all the senior communities in northern Illinois, so they know which community has the best services for you or your loved one. They will provide practical advice to help you make an informed decision. We are neutral in terms of your choices. We use your concerns and all other important aspects of your life to simplify your search. Even if you are not in Illinois, we will gladly help you.”

Additionally, Elderwerks refers supportive services and benefits based on a senior’s status. These include elder law attorneys, home care agencies, aging in place specialists, Medicare/Medicaid, Veteran’s benefits and other assistance you might need.

Also offered is the complimentary Elderwerks 340+ page Senior Resource Directory, which includes all local and federal programs including nutritional projects, transportation, information on specific illnesses, social services, and thousands of other topics and providers. The directories are available at the Crystal Lake Fire Department, Crystal Lake Library, and other local sites including the Elderwerks Center, located at 251 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine, in the shopping center near the Palatine Ace Hardware.

“Senior housing options can be overwhelming,” Prell said. “Don’t panic. Just contact Elderwerks for your complimentary assistance. We provide the necessary information to make an informed decision. What you do with it is up to you.”

For those who are interested in staying in their current residence, Elderwerks can refer home care agencies, building modification companies, and other benefits to help them age in place.

The services Elderwerks provides, which are complementary to older adults, seniors, and their families, include community education, Caregiver Symposiums, Aging Better Expo (Aug. 9-13), support groups, book clubs, in-person support at Elderwerks Center in Palatine, cloth masks for seniors, a 20-page large print Word Search puzzle, and more.
