Inspired by the success of his sushi restaurant in Cary, Kevin Chen plans to open a second eatery in Crystal Lake, not only featuring sushi, but a variety of Asian cuisine.

Tasty Bistro, at 394 W. Virginia St., Crystal Lake, will be a Japanese-Chinese-Asian fusion, said Chen, a resident of Algonquin.

“We will be serving not only Japanese sushi, but hibachi, teriyaki, ramen noodles, Chinese and Thai food,” Chen said. “We are going to serve octopus – of course. Our menu is huge.”

The location is 4,500 square feet, formerly a steakhouse, and is suitable for a restaurant, but is undergoing a little remodeling, Chen said.

The plan is to open sometime in May, he said.

An immigrant from China, Chen said he has 18 years of experience as an Asian cuisine chef.

The logo for this restaurant is the same as for Tasty Sushi, 630 Route 14, Cary, a winking, smiling yellow octopus holding a knife, sushi roller, bowl and chopsticks.

Tasty Sushi, which opened in 2019, also offers Chinese, Japanese and Thai cookery.
