Crystal Lake woman cited in three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning

Fox River Grove man, 22, taken to hospital with injuries that are not life threatening

An 84-year-old Crystal Lake woman was cited for failing to yield while turning left Wednesday morning after being involved in a three-vehicle crash at Route 31 and Crystal Lake Avenue that sent a Fox River Grove man to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

The woman who was cited was driving a 2020 BMW sedan south on Route 31 and was turning left on a green light onto eastbound Crystal Lake Avenue when her vehicle was struck by a 2012 Jeep Wrangler, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. The Jeep, driven by the 22-year-old Fox River Grove man, was driving north on Route 31 when the crash occurred.

The Jeep then rolled onto its roof and struck a 2015 Toyota sedan driven by a 63-year-old Crystal Lake woman, who was stopped at the red light on westbound Crystal Lake Avenue, sheriff’s officials said.

The Fox River Grove man was taken to Northwestern McHenry Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, officials said.

The two women were treated for injuries and released at the scene of the incident.

Alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor to the crash, officials said.

Crystal Lake Avenue was closed while emergency responders were on scene and reopened afterward. Traffic also was impacted on Route 31.
