Rise Lake in the Hills opens, claiming title of McHenry County’s 1st marijuana dispensary

Profits from Wednesday grand opening to be donated to Habitat for Humanity of McHenry County

Rise Lake in the Hills opened this week as its parent company Green Thumb Industries claimed the marijuana dispensary at 270 N. Randall Road is McHenry County’s first.

“We are honored to open McHenry County’s first cannabis store to expand access to cannabis and well-being for residents throughout the area,” Green Thumb Founder and CEO Ben Kovler said in a news release.

A grand opening event is planned for Wednesday, according to the release, and profits from the day’s sales will be donated to Habitat for Humanity of McHenry County, a nonprofit housing organization.

“The Habitat for Humanity family welcomes Rise Lake in the Hills to McHenry County and appreciates the donation and the gift of volunteerism the Green Thumb team has offered,” Sara Davis, director of community services for Habitat for Humanity of McHenry County, said in the release. “This will make a positive impact on families in need by helping build strength and stability through safe and affordable housing in our community, and we are extremely thankful for the contribution.”

The store is Green Thumb’s 55th in the nation, the company said.

Rise Lake in the Hills will offer online preordering for adults 21 and older at risecannabis.com. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
