McHenry County College has teamed up with the Manufacturing Pathways Consortium to create rotational internships for high school students at local manufacturing companies this summer.
The internships are open to students ages 16 to 18 who currently reside in McHenry County, according to a news release. Interns will work 29 hours a week over the course of 10 weeks, spending five weeks at one company before switching to a second company for the remaining five weeks.
Participating companies include AFC Materials Group, Alpha Swiss Industries, Berry Global, BTM Industries, Fabrik Molded Plastics, General Kinematics Corp., Jessup Manufacturing Co., M4 Factory, Phoenix Woodworking Corp., Remke’s Garage, Scot Forge, Socomec and Boltswitch and TC Industries Inc.
The application deadline is April 15. No previous work experience is required. Safety equipment will be provided by each company with a grant stipend to offset the cost. As part of the application, students can select their top two employer choices.
MCC will host virtual information sessions about the program at 6 p.m. Monday, as well as March 16, 24 and 29. To apply for the program or to register for an information session, visit www.bit.ly/rotational22.
