Two 14-year-old Harvard girls were charged last week after a 17-year-old girl was stabbed following a disagreement over a vape pen, the Harvard deputy police chief said.

The Harvard Police Department responded at 10:03 p.m. Feb. 16 to the 800 block of West Thompson Street for the report of a person stabbed, according to a news release. They found a 17-year-old girl with a “severe laceration” to the left forearm.

The girl was taken to Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center-Harvard by the Harvard Fire Protection District where she was treated and later released to a parent, according to the release.

One of the 14-year-old girls was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and transported to the Kane County Juvenile Detention Center. The other was charged with battery and released to a parent.

The Harvard Police Department does not expect any further charges related to this incident, Deputy Chief Tyson Bauman said.
