Burlington Central’s Taylor Charles and Prairie Ridge’s Karsen Karlblom were named to The Associated Press Class 3A All-State girls basketball team that was released Wednesday.

Charles, a 6-foot-2 senior forward, was named to the second team. Karlblom, a 5-foot-11 senior guard, received honorable mention. Charles earned All-State honorable mention status last season as a junior.

Charles averaged 13.5 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.5 blocks a game and set the Rockets’ single-season records in rebounds (385) and blocks (116). Burlington finished 23-10 and won its second consecutive regional title.

Charles will play next year at NCAA Division I Princeton.

Karlblom led all area players in scoring (18.8 points a game) and 3-pointers (88). She ended her four-year varsity career as the Wolves’ all-time leader in points (1,692), 3s (270) and steals (241). Prairie Ridge was an area-best 27-6 and won its first regional championship since 2014.

Karlblom will play next year at D-III Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
