Isaiah Kirkeeng scored 15 points, and Cooper LePage tossed in 14 as Crystal Lake South defeated Hampshire, 54-39, Saturday in their Fox Valley Conference Boys Basketball Tournament play-in game in Crystal Lake.

It was the second time the Gators (5-6) beat the Whip-Purs (0-11) in 18 hours. They played their FVC regular-season finale Friday.

No. 7-seeded South moves on to play at No. 2 Huntley at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Hampshire plays a consolation game at 7 p.m. Thursday in McHenry.

Kirkeeng and LePage each grabbed six rebounds, and LePage handed out five assists for the Gators, who played their seventh game in as many days. After being quarantined for nine days because of COVID-19, South went 3-4 for the week.

Arnav Jain added 11 points and four assists, and Brock Jewson scored seven points and had eight rebounds and three steals.

Kevin Dela Paz, Logan Thompson and Ryan Smekrud each scored six points for the Whips.

Alden-Hebron 47, Parkview Christian 37: At Yorkville, Cody Kurcab scored 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter as the Giants (3-8, 3-8) defeated the Falcons in their Northeastern Athletic Conference game.

Kurcab scored a big putback to end the third quarter that sparked the Giants in pulling away. Thomas Webber scored 10 points, Tyler Cunningham added eight and Justin Gritmacker had seven.

Wauconda 72, Woodstock 37: At Wauconda, sophomore Kaden Perkins scored nine points to lead the Blue Streaks (0-11) in their nonconference loss to the Bulldogs.

Zach Adams scored eight points for the Streaks.

Burlington Central 74, Woodstock North 52: At Burlington, the Thunder were unable to upend the FVC regular-season champions.

Rex White led Woodstock North with a career-high 23 points, while Gabe Filetti added nine points and Cole Brey scored six.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

McHenry 47, Jacobs 39: At McHenry, Ashley Wachter hit 5 of 6 free throws in the final minute to help lead the No. 8 Warriors past the No. 9 Golden Eagles in their play-in game in the FVC Tournament.

Wachter finished with a game-high 20 points. Alyssa Franklin added 13 for the Warriors (4-7).

Arianna Corrado led Jacobs (1-8) with nine points, and Mackenzie Leahy added seven.

McHenry plays at No. 1 Burlington Central at 7 p.m. Monday in a quarterfinal game. Crystal Lake Central hosts Jacobs at 7 p.m. Wednesday in a consolation game.

Stevenson 61, Huntley 56 (OT): At Trinity International University in Deerfield, Huntley Kamsi Nwogu scored a team-high 17 points for the Red Raiders (8-3) in an overtime loss to the Patriots. Carly Faulkner tossed in 12 points, Jessie Ozzauto had 10 points, and Raquel Radermacher added nine for Huntley.

Woodstock 51, Alden-Hebron 30: At Hebron, Jania Lejman poured in a game-high 21 points and knocked down five 3s for the Blue Streaks in the nonconference win. Celia Tafoya had 14 points for Woodstock (2-9).

Karly Strand scored 12 points, and Kendra Cashmore tossed in six for the Giants.

Parkview Christian 48, Alden-Hebron 32: At Yorkville, Strand had 16 points for the Giants (3-9, 2-8) in a NAC loss to the Falcons. Cashmore added six points.

Sycamore 52, Dundee-Crown 35: At Carpentersville, the Spartans beat the Chargers (4-5) in their nonconference game.

D-C was playing its first game since Feb. 24 after the team went into COVID-19 quarantine. The Chargers travel to Cary-Grove at 7 p.m. Monday to play in an FVC Tournament quarterfinal.

Round Lake 56, Richmond-Burton 37: At Round Lake, the Rockets (3-9) dropped the nonconference game to the Panthers.
