Hampshire, Prairie Ridge, Richmond-Burton baseball teams earn nonconference victories

Baseball

Hampshire 12, Cooter 0: At USA Baseball Stadium in Millington, Tenn., Lucas Prange and Tyler Lacke combined to throw a one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts as the Whip-Purs won over the Wildcats. Prange started and threw four and two-thirds with seven strikeouts.

Tyler Rubino homered and finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Logan Nawrocki doubled and went 3 for 3 with three runs and two RBIs. Joey Rodriguez singled twice and went 2 for 3 with two RBIs in the victory. The Whip-Purs improved to 5-1-1 on the season.

Prairie Ridge 12, Woodstock North 2: At Crystal Lake, Beckett Breseman singled and led the Wolves with four RBIs in a victory over the Thunder. Jack Spindler singled twice and went 2 for 4 with two RBIs to aid the Wolves, who improved to 4-1 overall.

Colt Zaleski pitched for Prairie Ridge, throwing four and two-thirds innings and striking out seven while holding Woodstock North to two runs. Braeden Berner singled and had one RBI for the Thunder (1-3).

Richmond-Burton 9, Marian Central 0: At Richmond, Anthony Harvey fired a three-hit shutout over six innings and struck out six as the Rockets took down the Hurricanes. Colton Schwind notched a pair of singles and went 2 for 4 with one run and two RBIs for R-B (4-2).

Ray Hannemann, who pitched the seventh and struck out three in a scoreless inning, went 2 for 4 with two singles and an RBI at the dish. Evan Brubaker doubled and went 2 for 2 for Marian Central (0-4).

Lakes 12, Cary-Grove 4: At Lake Villa, Kaden Norman recorded two RBIs and Mason Klimek scored two runs as the Trojans lost against the unbeaten Eagles in nonconference play. C-G, which totaled three hits and drew four walks in the loss, dropped to 3-3 on the season.

Softball

Crystal Lake Central 11, Johnsburg 0: At Crystal Lake, Lily Perocho fired a two-hit shutout and struck out 13 batters over five innings as the Tigers rolled over the Skyhawks in a nonconference game. Perocho helped her cause at the plate, finishing 2 for 3 with a solo home run.

Kylie Gibbons singled and totaled two RBIs, while Elise Thorsen hit a double and went 2 for 2 with one RBI for the Tigers (2-0). Ella Arana added a two-RBI single for Crystal Lake Central. Evelyn Mercurio and Carlie Majercik each had hits for Johnsburg (0-1).

Grant 4, Cary-Grove 1: At Fox Lake: Paityn Ahlquist struck out 12 batters over six innings pitched and Holly Streit singled and earned an RBI as the Trojans lost to the Bulldogs in nonconference play. The Trojans (0-1) totaled six hits and drew three walks in the defeat.

Wauconda 11, Richmond-Burton 1: At Wauconda, Ruby Gregurich went 2 for 3 with two singles and the Rockets recorded five hits in their nonconference loss against the Bulldogs. Breanna Warren hit a double and scored in the top of the fifth inning for the Rockets (5-5).

Girls Soccer

Woodstock North 3, McHenry 0: At Woodstock, the Thunder (1-1-1) earned a shutout win over the Warriors (0-3) in nonconference play.
