Tributes being accepted for ‘Wall of Honor’ at Illinois Capitol

Senate Republican Caucus has been hosting the annual Veterans Day tribute since 2017

The Senate Republican Caucus has been hosting "Wall of Honor" at the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield as an annual Veterans Day tribute since 2017, according to a news release. This year’s tribute wall will be on display from Nov. 11 through Nov. 23.

To help remember veterans and honor their service this Veterans Day, local state senators are encouraging constituents to submit a tribute and photo to be displayed on the annual Veterans Day “Wall of Honor” in the Illinois Capitol.

“Our Wall of Honor provides an opportunity for Illinois veterans to receive some much-deserved recognition,” state Sen. Craig Wilcox, R-McHenry, said in a statement. “I hope families in the 32nd Senate District participate in this project and allow us to honor their favorite veterans in a very special way this month.”

The Senate Republican Caucus has been hosting the annual Veterans Day tribute since 2017, according to a news release. This year’s tribute wall will be on display from Nov. 11 through Nov. 23.

Families and friends who would like to participate should submit the following to be displayed on the annual Tribute wall: a photo of veteran (military photos are preferred but not required); a written story, maximum 250 words; the name of veteran; what military branch they served in; and what conflict they served during.

Submissions should be emailed to veteransday@sgop.ilga.gov by Nov. 11 but will be accepted through Nov. 23. The display will be updated daily to include new entries.

Submissions also can be mailed to Veterans Day Wall, 309 G Statehouse, Springfield, IL 62706.
