La Salle and Peru will be closing 24th Street/Wenzel Road beginning Wednesday, March 23, for a few months to accommodate construction improvements.

The road will be closed from Chartres Street in La Salle to east of Faith Church, where Wenzel Road becomes a three-lane road. Faith Church, 800 Wenzel Road, will remain open to traffic.

The exact length of time the street will remain closed will be weather dependent during construction.

Motorists will need to find alternate routes for the spring season. Construction work will be completed by Advanced Asphalt, of Princeton.

The final cost of the project is expected to be about $800,000 for the city of La Salle. The overall bid from Advanced Asphalt was $1,013,705 — as La Salle will be responsible for 75% of the project.

Faith Church in Peru will remain opened during the Wenzel Road construction project.
