Carus in Peru introduces Giving Fence for those in need

Local business leads community effort to collect, distribute winter clothing

Carus Corporation in Peru unveiled the Giving Fence, a new community initiative providing new and gently used winter apparel to those in need.

The Giving Fence is available to the public, with an invitation to take what you need or leave what you can as the weather turns colder.

Community members are encouraged to donate new or gently used coats, hats, gloves and scarves. Simply place the item in a plastic bag, label the bag and pin it to the fence. Clothing items are offered at no charge to anyone in need.

“This is a wonderful way for the community to come together this holiday season,” said Andy Johnston, president and CEO of Carus. “The Giving Fence is a simple way to help a neighbor in need, and Carus is thrilled to support this project.”

Anyone wishing to participate can visit the Giving Fence in front of the Carus headquarters at 315 Fifth St. in Peru. Donations can be made and picked up anonymously, 24 hours a day through the end of December.
