Pie crust workshop set Nov. 13 in La Salle

University of Illinois Extension invites all youth, ages 8-18, to a pie crust workshop 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13.

This workshop will take place at the University of Illinois Extension Education Center and Community Teaching Kitchen at 944 First St. in La Salle.

The cost for this workshop is free to all 4-H members and $5 for non-4-H members. Go to https://go.illinois.edu/piecrust to register by Wednesday, Nov. 10. If possible, all participants are asked to bring a hair tie and or a hat to wear in the kitchen.

This workshop is geared for youth, ages 8-18, who want to learn how to bake pies from scratch. Susan Glassman, extension nutrition and wellness educator, and Beth Dellatori, 4-H youth development educator, will teach participants about basic measuring skills, using a rolling pin to roll out the dough, forming the crust in the pie plate, and cooking the crust to perfection. Attendees will also learn more about 4-H, complete a craft, receive pie recipes to take home, and enjoy a snack.
