Motorist dies after two-vehicle crash Saturday in Oglesby

The motorist killed in a two-vehicle crash at 3:45 p.m. Saturday at North 25th and Mallick roads, Oglesby, has been identified as Florence Argubright, 85, of Oglesby.

Oglesby police issued an update late Monday on the crash, which remains under investigation. So far, police have determined the rear-end collision occurred when a 2002 Ford Explorer, westbound on North 25th Road, slowed for an animal or animals that entered the roadway. At that point, Argubright’s 2007 Hyundai Accent struck the Explorer from behind.

The driver of the Explorer and two passengers were taken to a local hospital. Names of the injured were not immediately available, but those injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Argubright was taken to St. Margaret’s Health-Peru, where she was pronounced dead in the emergency room, police confirmed.
