Slough Road Bridge closed in Peru after ‘unsatisfactory inspection’

City will wait for IDOT to complete its inspection and provide the city with direction

The Slough Road Bridge is closed in Peru.

The bridge was closed by Peru’s public works department after an unsatisfactory inspection by the city’s consulting structural engineer, Peru officials said. The required report was forwarded to the Illinois Department of Transportation and it has notified the city the bridge can’t reopen until IDOT has completed its inspection and provided the city with direction.

IDOT has jurisdiction over the bridge, which is the reason the city has to wait for the inspection and report, the state agency has not given an indication when the inspection will occur.
