TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp trailed by three runs entering the top of the ninth during Saturday’s Prospect League game against the Wabash Valley REX.

The locals smacked three consecutive singles to start the inning, the last by Sam Link to plate a run and used a fielders choice scoring ground out to get within one, but the hosts were able to get the final two outs to record a 4-3 victory at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium.

Nolan Clifford had a pair of singles and an RBI for the Pistol Shrimp (6-16) while Keshawn Ogans doubled. Illinois Valley starting pitcher Connor Sullivan allowed seven hits and three earned runs in six innings with a walk and six strikeouts, while reliever Mitch Benson (2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER) suffered the loss in relief.

The Pistol Shrimp return home to host the Normal CornBelters for “Salute To The Military” on Sunday with a 1:05 p.m. first pitch at Veterans Park in Peru.
