Keshawn Organs homers twice, but Pistol Shrimp lose to Gems

Keshawn Organs went 3-for-4 and belted two solo home runs Tuesday as the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp lost 6-3 to the Quincy Gems at Veterans Park in Peru.

After the Gems scored two runs in the top of the first inning, Organs led off the bottom of the frame his first home run.

Garry Maynard hit a game-tying run in the bottom of the fourth inning, and Organs smacked his second homer of the game in the fifth to give the Pistol Shrimp a 3-2 lead.

The Gems scored three runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead for good before adding an insurance run in the eighth.

Evan Clark took the loss for Illinois Valley, as he gave up five runs on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks in five innings.

Ryan Manikowski pitched the final four innings for the Shrimp, allowing one run on one hit with four strikeouts and three walks.

The Pistol Shrimp (5-13) and Gems play again at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at Veterans Park.
