Peru officials provided an update on the recent closure of the Slough Bridge, which is under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Peru’s structural engineer inspected the bridge and filled out a standard form for bridge inspection. Some items noted on the form included significant corrosion and rusting, missing anchor bolts, increased section loss of the steel and significant paint loss.

At this time city officials are not aware of the date for an IDOT inspection as the bridge will remain closed until further notice.
