Traditional kumla dinner returns to Serena church

Dinner will be served as carryout only

Kumla is a potato dumpling

After skipping a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Serena United Methodist Church is once again offering its traditional kumla in a new, carryout format.

In keeping with health guidelines, a carryout-only kumla dinner will be 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Serena Township Building, 2292 U.S. 52.

The traditional Norwegian feast will include kumla, ham, green beans or a container of a dozen kumla only for a donation of $12. Kumla is a potato dumpling, traditional in Scandinavian cuisine. Tickets are available from members of the Serena United Methodist Church. For tickets, or more information, call Moira Marshall at 815-496-2822, or Rich Fassig at 815-751-2290.

Organizers are inviting the public to call now for tickets. No tickets will be available at the door.
