Leland Area History Center hosts fundraiser, set to open

Graveside chats, tours of the history center and refreshments are included in the ticket price of $15 per person, $10 for members, $5 for students. Tickets are available online at lelandhistory.org or by mailing a check to Leland Cemetery Walk, P.O. Box 2, Leland, IL 60531. The Leland Cemetery Walk is sponsored by Resource Bank, Horticultural Specialists and Leland Farmers Company.

The Leland Area History Center will open to the general public Sunday, Oct. 10, with the inaugural exhibit “Now Meets Then.” Regular tour and research hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sundays or by appointment. The history center is located on the second floor of the Resource Bank building at 205 N. Main St., Leland. A lift is available for those who opt not to use the stairs. Admission is free.

The Leland Historical Society was formed in 2019 and is seeking to capture 160 years of area history. Offers of memorabilia, photographs and artifacts pertaining to the Leland area are welcomed.
