State Sen. Jason Barickman (R-Bloomington) wants residents in the 53rd District to express appreciation for police officers during National Police Week, which runs May 9-15.
Barickman’s office is conducting an “Appreciation for Your Dedication” card drive to collect thank-you cards, handwritten notes, drawings, encouraging stories and similar material to distribute to police departments throughout the Senate district.
“The brave men and women of our law enforcement community are given an incredibly difficult task, to keep us and our communities safe,” Barickman said in a news release. “My goal is to help show the appreciation that we have for the brave men and women who risk their lives to protect us every day.”
To participate, mail or drop off materials to Barickman’s district office, 3004 G.E. Road, Suite 1B, Bloomington, IL 61704, by Saturday, May 15.
The 53rd District covers portions of Livingston, Woodford, McLean, Ford, Iroquois and Vermilion counties. Barickman represents residents of South Streator, Long Point, Flanagan and Cornell.
