Voters elect 2 new Streator High board members

With Tuesday’s elections wrapping up, Ottawa High School’s board is now set.

Don Harris, George Shanley and Karen Fisher will all return to the board joined by Laurence Bartman, who earned a seat formerly occupied by Gene Duffy.

Duffy opted not to run in this election.

Fisher was narrowly the leading vote-getter in a race that saw the four leading candidates get 21% of the vote. Fisher received 1,270 votes while Harris received 1,268. Bartman received 1,255 and Shanley received 1,245. Angel Patterson received 804 votes in unofficial totals.

Board members will be sworn in at Ottawa Township High School’s April 19 school board meeting.

Streator High elected new members

Guaranteed at least one new member to the board with Nick McFadden not running for re-election to the Streator High School board, voters opted to elect two new members.

Newcomer Gary Wargo tallied 1,030 votes in unofficial totals Tuesday night, Heather Baker 951, incumbent Rich Tutoky 798 and incumbent James Parr 608. The top three vote getters won seats, while the final individual will be left off the board.
