High school board will meet week of Aug. 2 to talk COVID-19 protocols

Streator High School released orientation day information.

Freshman and sophomore students will attend Tuesday, Aug. 17, in the morning. Doors open at 7:40 a.m. with the auditorium presentation beginning promptly at 8 a.m. No breakfast or lunch will be served on orientation day, but a snack will be provided at the end of the day for freshman and sophomores so students will have the opportunity to go through the lunch lines. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.

Junior and senior students will attend on Tuesday, Aug. 17, in the afternoon. Doors will open at 12:20 p.m. with the auditorium presentation beginning promptly at 12:35 p.m. No breakfast or lunch will be served on orientation day for juniors and seniors. Students will be dismissed at 3 p.m.

Student schedules will be available Aug. 9 in Skyward. For both student groups buses will run and everyone needs to come into the school through the main door entrance on Lincoln Avenue (Door marked 3S). Attendance will be taken and school dress code applies. Students are advised to bring something to write with on orientation day.

Orientation day schedules for both groups of students are available from Principal Amy Jo Mascal through students’ SHS email accounts.

The high school’s COVID-19 Transition Team is meeting to discuss the impact of the July 26 changes to current COVID 19 protocols. Following a board meeting the week of Aug. 2, opening year changes will be announced to the public.
