A student had minor injuries and declined medical treatment after getting attacked last Thursday as Ottawa High School students were walking the short distance to Dettore’s Town Lanes for their bowling unit in PE class.

Warrants have been issued in the March 3 beating in Ottawa and one of the suspects was placed into custody.

Andreyan J. Gonzalez, 20, of Ottawa, and Daeveon M. Totten, 18, of Aurora, were charged with mob action, a Class 4 felony carrying 1-3 years in prison, and aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony carrying 2-5 years in prison. Bond was fixed at $30,000.

Gonzalez was taken into custody on Sunday at DeLeon Street and Boyce Place. Totten has not been arrested on the warrants, police said in a Tuesday release.

Ottawa Police Detective Sgt. Kyle Booras said the incident at 100 E. Main St. was isolated, and not something the department expects to happen again.

Ottawa High School Superintendent Michael Cushing said the school put this matter in police hands as soon as it happened, as it was a one-time targeted incident against a specific person.
