The Streator baseball team won its eighth-consecutive Northern Illinois Big 12 West Division in a 4-1 triumph over Geneseo. Bulldogs’ winning pitcher Mike Renner went the distance, allowing just four hits with four strikeouts. At the plate, Ryan Nagle had an RBI double and solo homer, Zach Garrison a run-scoring double, and Wes Hall an RBI single.

The Ottawa boys tennis team blanked Streator, 5-0. The Pirates received singles wins from Jackson Evenson and Corey Barnes, and doubles victories from Matt Anderson/Nathan McAlpine, Matt Guenther/Nick Tabor, and Clayton Conness/David Dubrose.

The Earlville-Leland baseball squad topped Hinckley-Big Rock, 8-4. Cory Buhler had two singles, a home run, and four RBIs for the Red Raiders, while Mitch Lowery and Miguel Ocon each posted two hits. Winning pitcher Tyler Frieders picked up the complete-game win, allowing just five hits and striking out eight.

May 3, 1966

The Streator baseball team defeated Morris, 10-5. Ken Yuhas homered twice, Jim Cherveny had four hits and scored three runs, Doug Dieken and Greg Tkach recorded two hits each, and Dennis Stone scattered nine hits and fanned 10 on the mound for the Bulldogs.

The Woodland baseball club slipped past Lexington, 2-1. Rick Winterrowd was the winning pitcher for the Warriors, allowing just five hits and fanning nine, while Craig Chismarik had an RBI single.
