NEWARK – Megan Williams pounded out 11 kills to lead the Newark volleyball team to a 25-18, 25-5 victory over Somonauk in Little Ten Conference action Tuesday.
Lauren Ulrich handed out 16 assists, and Taylor Kruser brought up six digs in the win for the Norsemen (27-6, 9-1 LTC).
For the Bobcats (8-13, 5-5), Ame Grace posted four aces, Karlee McBride three kills, Alethia Johnson six digs and Sydney Johnson four digs and five assists.
Earlville def. LaMoille, 25-12, 25-7: At LaMoille, Nevaeh Sansone’s 12 kills led the Raiders to the victory. Alexis Olson contributed four kills, 11 digs and a block, Elizabeth Browder five kills and Emma Benson three aces and 19 assists for EHS (23-7, 9-1 LTC).
Sycamore def. Sandwich, 25-18, 23-25, 25-18: At Sandwich, the Indians fell despite 27 assists, four digs and five points from Alexis Sexton. Kaylin Herrin added six kills, Claire Allen six kills and nine points, Audrey Rome 11 kills and Emily Gomez 11 digs in the loss for Sandwich (15-18-1, 4-9 Interstate 8).
Fieldcrest def. Deer Creek-Mackinaw, 25-8, 25-14: At Mackinaw, the Knights won in two sets, thanks to 13 kills and two aces from Allie Wiesenhofer. Also for FHS (23-4), Bella Fortner added two aces, Kristyn Swartz 16 assists and Ella Goodrich four digs.
Marquette def. Lowpoint-Washburn, 25-13, 25-12: At Bader Gym in Ottawa, the Crusaders won the Tri-County Conference battle in two sets to move to 22-8 this season.
