The city of Ottawa finished up Round 2 of CURES grants.

Mayor Dan Aussem said money was distributed to 52 different businesses for a total of $714,750.

“I think a lot of credit needs to go to (city administration),” Aussem said. “We’ve had a lot of emails and calls from businesses that really appreciate it.”

The Ottawa City Council also approved an $85,362 purchase of a Ford F550 dump truck during its meeting Tuesday night.

Commissioner Marla Rodriguez said this was an already budgeted item for purchase. She said there weren’t any local companies that bid out for the type of vehicle the city needed, so it had to go with a statewide bid.

Also approved during the meeting was an ordinance requiring a two-week notice for anyone to host a parade or an open-air meeting in a park, which Aussem said already was being enforced. It had been brought to commissioners’ attention that the ordinance still read that 72 hours notice was required to host those events.
