DuPage County reports 163 COVID-19 cases Wednesday, no deaths, 13.05% of population fully vaccinated

The DuPage County Health Department on Wednesday reported 163 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with no deaths.

The county now has seen a total of 79,286 coronavirus cases including 1,275 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of March 9 was 98.3%.

DuPage County has administered 326,826 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 121,214 people, or 13.05% of the population, have been fully vaccinated.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 56 consecutive days under 8%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 3.9%. Currently, 32% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 94 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average decreased to 3.7% and DuPage County increased to 3.9%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for eight out of the past 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,655 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 17 additional deaths Wednesday, and a total of 4,283,487 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

The state reported administering 102,390 vaccine doses on Tuesday.

By town, Wheaton has had 4,207 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,977, Lombard 4,051, Villa Park 2,422, Hinsdale 1,349, Westmont 2,003, Darien 1,696, Woodridge 2,512, Downers Grove 4,094, Elmhurst 4,081, Warrenville 1,232 and Winfield 1,029. Addison has had 4,630 confirmed cases, Naperville 7,366, Carol Stream 4,181 and West Chicago 4,200.
