DuPage County reports 83 COVID-19 cases Saturday, 1 death, 6.12% of population fully vaccinated

The DuPage County Health Department on Saturday reported 83 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 1 death, a man in his 80s.

The county now has seen a total of 71,873 coronavirus cases including 1,193 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Feb. 23 was 98.2%.

DuPage County has administered 190,576 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 56,798 people, or 6.12% of the population, have been fully vaccinated.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 38 consecutive days under 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 3.6%. Currently, 29% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 76 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 3.8% and DuPage County is at 3.5%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for nine out of the last 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,780 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 34 additional deaths Saturday.

By town, Wheaton has had 3,859 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,735, Lombard 3,762, Villa Park 2,251, Hinsdale 1,177, Westmont 1,819, Darien 1,503, Woodridge 2,239, Downers Grove 3,475, Elmhurst 3,694, Warrenville 1,120 and Winfield 929. Addison has had 4,364 confirmed cases, Naperville 6,252, Carol Stream 3,830 and West Chicago 3,916.
