DuPage County tops 100,000 doses of vaccine administered, region’s COVID-19 positivity rate drops below 5%

The DuPage County Health Department on Tuesday reported 129 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with no deaths.

The county now has seen a total of 69,861 coronavirus cases including 1,135 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Jan. 26 was 98.1%.

DuPage County has administered 100,915 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 26,703 residents, or 2.88% of the population, have been fully vaccinated.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen eight consecutive days at or under 6.5%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 4.9%. Currently, 28% of ICU beds are available.

The last time this region was below 5.0% positivity was Oct. 5.

The region has 58 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 5.8% and DuPage County is at 4.4%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for 10 out of the last 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,082 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 20 additional deaths Tuesday, and a total of 1,417,156 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

By town, Wheaton has had 3,751 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,666, Lombard 3,651, Villa Park 2,197, Hinsdale 1,144, Westmont 1,771, Darien 1,450, Woodridge 2,173, Downers Grove 3,324, Elmhurst 3,587, Warrenville 1,101 and Winfield 907. Addison has had 4,266 confirmed cases, Naperville 5,962, Carol Stream 3,755 and West Chicago 3,838.
