DuPage County reports 317 COVID-19 cases Friday, 5 deaths, region’s positivity remains at 7.9%

The DuPage County Health Department on Friday reported 317 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 5 deaths: 1 woman in her 70s, 1 man in his 70s, 1 man in his 80s and 2 women in her 90s.

The county now has seen a total of 66,797 coronavirus cases including 1,076 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Jan. 12 was 98.0%.

DuPage County has administered 51,421 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 14,666 people in the county fully vaccinated, or 1.58% of the population. DuPage County has the highest rate of full vaccination in the state.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen two days under 8%. The region’s positivity rate remained at 7.9%. Currently, 31% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 40 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average fell to 8.7%, and DuPage County’s rose to 7.5%.

Hospitalizations have decreased six out of the past 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 7,042 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 95 additional confirmed deaths Thursday.

By town, Wheaton has had X,XXX total cases, Glen Ellyn X,XXX, Lombard X,XXX, Villa Park X,XXX, Hinsdale XXX, Westmont X,XXX, Darien XXX, Woodridge X,XXX, Downers Grove X,XXX, Elmhurst X,XXX, Warrenville XXX and Winfield XXX. Addison has had X,XXX confirmed cases, Naperville X,XXX, Carol Stream X,XXX and West Chicago X,XXX.
