DuPage County reports 344 COVID-19 cases Tuesday, no deaths, region’s positivity rate decreases to 10.1%

The DuPage County Health Department on Tuesday reported 344 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with no deaths.

The county now has seen a total of 61,357 coronavirus cases including 988 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Dec. 29 was 97.8%.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 10.1%. Currently, 22.2% of medical/surgical beds are available and 26.7% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and three consecutive days over the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 11.7%, and DuPage County is at 9.3%.

Finally, within the DuPage/Kane region, there are 83 available, staffed ICU beds out of 324 total and 368 ventilators available out of 579.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 6,839 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 126 additional deaths Tuesday.

The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate decreased from 8.6% to 8.5%.

By town, Wheaton has had 3,257 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,302, Lombard 3,155, Villa Park 1,908, Hinsdale 951, Westmont 1,539, Darien 1,247, Woodridge 1,939, Downers Grove 2,838, Elmhurst 3,143, Warrenville 987 and Winfield 797. Addison has had 3,838 confirmed cases, Naperville 5,251, Carol Stream 3,335 and West Chicago 3,425.
