DuPage County COVID-19 case numbers drop as 175 infections reported Saturday, 3 deaths

The DuPage County Health Department on Saturday reported 175 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 3 deaths: 1 woman in her 60s and 2 women in their 80s.

It is the second consecutive day that case numbers decreased.

The county now has seen a total of 57,485 coronavirus cases including 914 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Dec. 22 was 97.7%.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 11 consecutive days below 12%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 9.5%. Currently, 21% of medical/surgical beds are available and 23.9% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and one day above the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 11.5%, and DuPage County is at 8.9%.

Finally, within the DuPage/Kane region, there are 87 available, staffed ICU beds out of 324 total and 376 ventilators available out of 572.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,293 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 66 additional deaths on Saturday.

The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate is 6.8%.

By town, Wheaton has had 3,059 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,167, Lombard 2,965, Villa Park 1,784, Hinsdale 862, Westmont 1,407, Darien 1,129, Woodridge 1,791, Downers Grove 2,561, Elmhurst 2,945, Warrenville 919 and Winfield 736. Addison has had 3,665 confirmed cases, Naperville 4,902, Carol Stream 3,118 and West Chicago 3,221.
