Nineteen-year-old twin brothers from Minooka were charged in Grundy County with multiple counts of child pornography.
Nicholas Chaidez was arrested Jan. 19 by Grundy County deputies on charges of child pornography after a detective received a tip of a person possibly possessing child pornography in the Shady Oaks mobile home park, police said, with the information coming from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task force.
Chaidez remains free on a $20,000 bond, which was paid Jan. 20 by his father, Jesus Chaidez, according to court documents.
On Jan. 27 Nicholas Chaidez bond was modified to permit him to attend college courses at Joliet Junior College and submit his coursework online via internet, according to court records.
He is not allowed to interact with minors and is permitted to use the internet for the sole purpose of submitting coursework.
Nicholas Chaidez was indicted on charges of possessing child pornography by a Grundy County grand jury on Feb. 16.
On Wednesday, Nicholas Chaidez’s twin brother, Nathaniel Chaidez, was also charged with multiple counts of child pornography.
According to Grundy County Court records, the Chaidez brothers possessed videos and photographs of children under the age of 13 and children under the age of 18.
According to the JJC website, the Chaidez twins were both members of the 2020 Cross Country team and received All-American awards for their participation in the 2020 National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division III National Championship Meet in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
