Grundy County provides COVID-19 update

MORRIS – The Grundy County Health Department provides information about vaccination efforts, cases, county and regional metrics.

Vaccination

IL Department of Public Health (IDPH) data shows that 51.22% of the Grundy population is fully vaccinated.

Vaccine for residents 12 and older is available at the Grundy County Health Department (1320 Union Street, Morris) each Monday, Wednesday and Friday in Dec. from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., or by appointment by calling 815-941-3404. First, second and third doses are available for residents 12 and older. Booster doses are available for anyone and older, regardless of medical condition or work setting.

Cases

To date, the total number of positive cases in Grundy is 8,139 with 90 residents who have passed away as a result of COVID-19 complications.

Presently, the Grundy County Health Department is following 83 people who have recently tested positive and are in isolation, and each of their close contacts.

Grundy County remains an “orange” status in the measurements of risk. The “orange” level indicates that there are warning signs of increased COVID-19 risk in the county.

Residents may visit the Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers webpage (morrishospital.org) to learn the latest information about Morris Hospital hospitalizations, test positivity, testing locations and visiting guidelines. The Hospital updates hospitalization and test positivity rate information each weekday at 10 a.m. and includes details related to number of vaccinated and unvaccinated patients.
