MORRIS – Grundy County Coroner John Callahan’s office and Illinois State Police District 5 officers are investigating a motorcycle crash that claimed the life of a Joliet man Wednesday morning. The crash occurred at mile post 125 on Interstate 80 in the westbound lane.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Devon J. Wade, 25, of Joliet was driving a motorcycle west on I-80. Witnesses said a semitractor-trailer came in front of the motorcycle, forcing Wade to lose control of his motorcycle. The motorcycle traveled into the safety wire and Wade was ejected from the cycle.

An ambulance from Troy Fire Protection District’s emergency medical services took Wade to the Morris Hospital emergency room, where he was pronounced dead at 8:15 a.m. There was no evidence that Wade was wearing a helmet.

The investigation is ongoing with Callahan’s office and the Illinois State Police District 5.
