CHANNAHON – The Edward Hines Jr. outreach team will be in Channahon at the Village Hall, enrolling veterans and answering questions about VA health care on May 12. The team will be at the Village Hall at 24555 S. Navajo Drive in Channahon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The team will consist of an enrollment coordinator, nurse and a member of the eligibility staff.

There is no need to register for this event, which is open to all veterans.

Attendees are bring a copy of their DD Form 214 and a photo ID. Veterans may be eligible for VA health care benefits if they served in the active military, naval or air service, didn’t receive a dishonorable discharge and enlisted after Sept. 7, 1980 or entered active duty after Oct. 16, 1981.

“Veterans are fortunate to have access to VA health care at the Joliet and La Salle VA clinics, but even more fortunate to have the outreach team coming to several locations in the area to meet with them so they can learn more about the health care benefits available to them at the clinics and at Hines Hospital,” said Ken Buck, superintendent of the Grundy County VAC.
