VAC summer meal program underway

Voluntary Action Center will once again conduct a Summer Food Service Program.

VAC has been sponsoring the Summer Food Service Program in DeKalb County since 1994, and in 2018 served more than 30,000 meals. The program provides free meals to youth younger than 18 or anyone older than 18 who is enrolled in a school program for people with disabilities.

The locations and dates of operation include:

• Kishwaukee Family YMCA, 2500 Bethany Road, Sycamore, June 1-Aug. 17. This is a closed enrolled site, youth need to be enrolled in the program to be eligible for meal.

• Westminster Presbyterian Church, 830 N. Annie Glidden Road, DeKalb. June 7-Aug. 6

• University Village, 722 N. Annie Glidden Road, DeKalb. Meals served Monday through Thursday; June 7-Aug. 5

• Camp Maple Leaf, 1403 Sycamore Road, DeKalb. June 7-July 23. This is a closed enrolled site, youth need to be enrolled in the program to be eligible for meal.

• Genoa Food Hub, 415 W. Main St., Genoa. Meals served Monday through Thursday; June 8-Aug. 13
