Public invited to DeKalb schools focus group

DeKALB – DeKalb School District 428 is involved in a strategic planning process as it prepares for the future. Part of this process involves seeking broad community input. Residents are invited to share their views through a focus group. The input will help guide the district’s goal setting and next steps.

Laura Martinez and Lori Grant, field services directors with the Illinois Association of School Boards, will facilitate a focus group to help the Board of Education receive input from the community. This focus group is an important part of the strategic planning process because it is designed to obtain the input of teachers, support staff, administrators, parents and community members about the direction of the district. The focus group will also provide an opportunity for participants to identify goals on which they feel the Board of Education should concentrate.

The focus group session will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at DeKalb High School (exact location to follow) and will last approximately two hours.

RSVPs are required due to space limitations related to COVID-19 restrictions. RSVP as soon as possible by contacting Shannon Whitaker at calling 815-754-2292 or shannon.whitaker@d428.org.
