Elks host drive-thru mobile pantries

DeKALB - DeKalb Elks Lodge 765 hosted two drive-thru mobile food pantries in February and March.

The lodge sponsored both events by donating $2,400 toward the food truck contents. Elk volunteers loaded each vehicle with pre-packaged boxes of food. More than 300 people were supplied much-needed food for their households. Elroy the Elk was also onsite to hand out Drug Awareness coloring books to the families and take pictures with those that wanted them. The funds to sponsor these projects were made possible by the Elks National Foundation Community Investment Project Grants. Every year the foundation has grants available for each lodge to use to help their community. The lodge welcomes the community’s input on how to use the grants.
