Rep. Bos to host free Rx disposal event Oct. 16

Drug takeback hours to be at Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center

LAKE ZURICH – State Rep. Chris Bos, R-Lake Zurich, is partnering with the Hawthorn Woods Police Department to host a free prescription drug takeback event Oct. 16.

The event to safely dispose of unwanted or expired prescription medication will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center, 94 N. Midlothian Road in Hawthorn Woods.

“Ensuring expired or unneeded medications don’t fall into the wrong hands is as important as ever,” Bos said in a news release. “To provide a safe and easy environment to dispose of these medications, our drop-off event will be set up as a drive-thru to allow residents to remain in their vehicles during the collection process.”

Drivers should follow the marked lanes when entering and exiting the parking lot at the drive-thru event.

Accepted items are prescription medications, prescription ointments and patches, pet medications and vitamins. Not accepted will be needles and illegal drugs.
