Lake Villa girl’s artwork featured on ALDI bag

Effort is partnership with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to fight pediatric cancer

LAKE VILLA – With September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a Lake Villa child is making a big difference in the fight against pediatric cancer.

As part of a continued partnership between Aldi and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports families affected by pediatric cancer, Aldi invited ALSF children and their siblings to submit artwork for the chance to have their design featured on a reusable grocery bag.

Anna Ciamarra of Lake Villa is one of the artists whose artwork will be featured on Aldi reusable shopping bags that were available in stores starting Sept. 15.

Anna is a 10-year-old ALSF hero with pediatric cancer. Anna and her family host lemonade stands to raise money for pediatric cancer research, and Anna is an ALSF Childhood Cancer Ambassador.

Through the combination of a corporate donation, customer donations and a portion of proceeds from the sale of lemon-themed products and reusable shopping bags featuring ALSF artists, Aldi will donate at least $1 million to ALSF in 2021.

Aldi employees across the country also are participating in ALSF’s Million Mile initiative, which invites participants to run, walk and cycle to raise awareness of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. ALSF is aiming for participants to log a collective 1 million miles during September.
