UPDATE: E-Learning Day set for Yorkville schools Thursday due to predicted winter storm

Yorkville School District Administration Center, 602 Center Parkway, Yorkville.

Due to a predicted winter storm, Yorkville School District 115 schools will be closed for in-person learning tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 17.

In an email sent to district families Wednesday evening, Superintendent Tim Shimp announced he has called an emergency all-district E-Learning Day for students and staff for Thursday.

“Because there is no way of knowing the severity of the inclement weather that is expected, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students, parents/guardians, and staff that commute and live in other communities, District 115 schools and facilities will be closed to students, visitors and teachers. This All-District E-Learning Day will not have to be made up at the end of the 2021-2022 school year,” Shimp wrote.

All after school activities, events, and practices scheduled for Thursday will be canceled.

Shimp directed parents and students to the district’s website at https://www.y115.org/Page/5354 for further information.

The district is expected to resume its regular scheduled day of learning on Friday, Feb. 18.

“Thank you for your continued flexibility and support. Please stay safe and warm!,” Shimp concluded.
