GALLERY: Crowds celebrate, enjoy return of Yorkville’s Hometown Days

Dogs of all breeds and sizes cooled off by jumping into a pool during the Ultimate Air Dogs competition at Yorkville's Hometown Days celebration Sept. 4.

The City of Yorkville’s Hometown Days celebration made its return to Beecher Park over the weekend, after taking 2020 off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The festival opened Thursday, Sept. 2, with barbecue and music from the Yorkville Big Band and continued through Sunday, Sept. 5, with the return of the carnival, meet-and-greets with famous characters like Anna and Elsa, tunes from local artists, and the popular Ultimate Air Dogs competition.

Next door at the Yorkville Public Library, the favored Friends of the Library Used Book Sale also returned for the festivities, with more than 20,000 books, CDs, DVDs, and other goods available, after collecting items for two years.
