Plano Walmart employee charged with battery in alleged chokehold incident

Suspect later released on recognizance bond pending court appearance

Plano police arrested a Walmart employee on a charge of battery Sunday evening, Feb. 21, after the man allegedly put an underage coworker in a chokehold.

Officers arrested Timothy R. Vaughn, 42, of the 1400 block of Chestnut Court in Yorkville, in connection with the incident that occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. at the Plano Walmart at 6800 W. Route 34.

According to Plano Police Lt. Norm Allison, Vaughn confronted the coworker, a minor, and put him in a chokehold. The coworker allegedly did nothing to instigate the altercation.

Officers transported the suspect to the Plano police station before releasing him on a recognizance bond. He is scheduled to appear at the Kendall County Courthouse on the charge on Thursday, March 25.
